I‘m so sad. Our local B&N just announced it‘s closing April 2 due to the landlord not renewing their lease. Instead, it will become a gym. Word is, B&N is actively looking for a new location. We‘ll see.

#bookhaul #cults

Leftcoastzen Hope the other ones aren‘t too far away. B&N is opening much smaller stores often when closing the big ones . That‘s what happened on the westside of Phoenix area . 2d
CrowCAH We had one close too. Not sure the exact reason. But the store is still vacant after a year. 2d
LeafingThroughLife What a bummer. Hope they find a new spot! 2d

britt_brooke @Leftcoastzen The closest ones are about an hour away. I‘d love a smaller version locally. Hope that‘s what happens! 2d
britt_brooke @LeafingThroughLife 🤞🏼🤞🏼 2d
brittanyreads Two of ours closed and relocated a few months later. They are now both the much smaller, cafe-less, newer versions of B&N. I hope that happens for you, too! 1d
britt_brooke @brittanyreads I would be totally happy with that! 1d

When all your library holds come in at once! Today‘s #bookhaul includes the tagged book for #SheSaid & Emma of 83rd Street for #Pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent (not a fan of the audiobook narration so going for print) & I have catching up to do for both. Others for #SeriesLove2024 & the graphic novel is for a reading challenge prompt.

The book🐔🐔are worried that with the other 2 I have checked out & not read yet, I won‘t get to all of them.🤷🏻‍♀️

Crazeedi I have a stack like yours, and I hope I get through them before I have to return!! 2d
Suet624 Yikes. That‘s a lot. Good luck. 👍🏻 2d
TheSpineView Looks good! Enjoy 2d
monalyisha Love the book chickens! BO(o)K BO(o)K! 🐓🐓 2d
monalyisha I think it‘s okay to have a big stack of library books. I say that not impartially. 😅 It‘s not necessarily that you‘re going to get to them all…but a reader needs choices! 2d

A mini #bookhaul from the remainders/discount bookstore. I was super excited to find these as 3 out of 4 were on my wishlist for years.

Clockwise from top L:
1) Stream System - Collected Short Fiction of Gerald Murnane
2) Territory of Light - Yuko Tsushima (I think the cover is pretty but it doesn't show up well in the pic)
3) Looking for Mr Goodbar - Judith Rossner
4) The Fortnight in September - R.C. Sherriff

Tamra The Sherriff is 💙💙 2d
batsy @Tamra Was so thrilled to find it having seen lots of Litsy love for it 😊 2d
Ruthiella I loved A Fortnight in September-such a gentle story. I read Mr Goodbar in the last century. Good but disturbing, as I remember. 2d

batsy @Ruthiella I've heard that about Mr Goodbar! Apparently it was also made into a movie with Diane Keaton. 2d
LeahBergen I think you‘ll love A Fortnight. And I read Mr Goodbar back in the last century, too, @Ruthiella 😆 2d
marleed I loved A Fortnight. In case you aren‘t aware of its origins, I think it enhances the reading experience to know when and how the book was written. 2d
batsy @LeahBergen Fortnight seems to be quite universally loved 🙂 2d
batsy @marleed Don't know too much about it, but thanks for the tip. Will look it up before I start reading! 2d
Cathythoughts Nice haul. I‘m going to look up Territory of Light. ♥️ 2d
batsy @Cathythoughts Thanks 😘 I've heard lots of good things about Territory, so I'm hoping it is 🤞🏾 2d

Bookwomble
Myth | K. K. Ruthven

#BookHaul #SpongeAndCustardHaul
Spending the last few days of my annual leave in the South Lakes, I've visited bookshops in Carnforth and Grange-over-Sands, and tried to visit one in Cartmel, but it was shut, so I had to content myself with buying sticky toffee puddings and custard from the Cartmel pudding shop 🍮😋
The book on the left is a beautiful 1967 Folio Edition of The Song of Songs bound in (I think) salmon-pink silk.
⬇️

Bookwomble The burgundy book is a neat, slipcased Collins Clear-Type Press anthology, The Way of Poetry, 1945-ish - perhaps earlier, as it's clearly not War-economy paper.
A study of Myths by K. K. Ruthven, which apart from my interest in the subject matter I bought for the author's surname, with its suggestion of vampirism! 🧛🏻‍♂️ (I apologise to any Ruthvens seeing this.)
3 short stories by Theodore Sturgeon, with groovy 1967 cover art by Alan Aldridge.⬇️
7d
Bookwomble Ghosts from the Library is an anthology of rarely collected spooky tales by classic mystery writers, including Arthur Conan Doyle's first submitted story, which wasn't published until 2000, along with Agatha Christie, Daphne du Maurier, Josephine Tey, etc.
In the mix is a bar of orange chocolate and a florentine 🍫, and a selection of Lake District bookmarks 🔖

LeahBergen Mmm, puddings! And you know I‘m a fan of the souvenir leather bookmarks. 😆 6d
batsy Lovely bookmarks and I've had my eye on Ghosts from the Library! 👻 6d
Bookwomble @LeahBergen I've struggled to find town-specific examples, which is a shame, but these general Lake District ones are nice and colourful 😊 5d
Bookwomble @batsy It does look interesting, and it's a "special edition" in a series of "rare" mystery stories called Bodies from the Library, which may have also caught your eye ?? 5d

A small #bookhaul from my local bookshop‘s 6 years in business yesterday. I told myself I could buy one book & I kept picking this one up, plus it was 30% off. It‘s about stories of “generosity” in nature & interactions that benefit the natural world. It‘s a gorgeous book & looks fascinating. I also got their tote because…it‘s grey 🩶 & a shaka 🤙🏼😊sticker.
