Just happened upon a reference to The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr in chapter 4 of Middlemarch (“Who can tell what just criticisms Murr the Cat may be passing on us beings of wider speculation?”) and boy, does this fantasy(?) book sound like a trip! 😸 #george #1001books
