"If Alfred Hitchcock had directed Downton Abbey, the result would have been this book. Alexandra Monir takes us on a gripping, nonstop thrill ride with just the right amount of supernatural and an ending that you definitely won't suspect. I devoured it in one sitting." —Jessica Brody, bestselling author of the Unremembered trilogy   "Take The Princess Diaries and add magic, murder and mystery, and you've got SUSPICION." —Amy Plum, author of the of the international bestselling Die For Me series   “There’s something hidden in the maze.”    Seventeen-year-old Imogen Rockford has never forgotten the last words her father said to her, before he, her mother, and the gardens of her family’s English country manor were consumed by a blazing fire.   For seven years, images of her parents’ death have haunted Imogen’s dreams even as she moved away and attempted to start over. But some attachments prove impossible to shake—including her love for her handsome former neighbor Sebastian Stanhope. When a letter arrives that forces Imogen to return to her family’s estate, she quickly discovers the dark secrets that her father warned her about. At their center is Imogen herself—and Sebastian, the boy she never stopped loving. Combining spine-tingling mystery, romance, and unforgettable characters, Suspicion is an action-packed thrill ride. "Intensely dramatic, fast-paced, and twisty, Monir’s mystery ticks every gothic suspense box. The combination of paranormal elements with a star-crossed romance between almost-royals should keep readers rapt." —BooklistFrom the Hardcover edition.

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book. The gothic feel and the mystery component. I also liked the elementals storyline. Imogen was a great character - brave, but kind and thoughtful. And, it was fun to put myself in for shoes of a teenager who finds herself a duchess and owner of an enormous English estate. The maze scenes were especially cool, and I could‘ve spent more time there!

I am reading this gem. It was given to me in early 2015. I am just now picking it up. At first I thought it was just a good English mystery but now I know there is more to this book.

Urgh! After an amazing month of reading in January, I feel like I'm careening into a slump.

The stack is so tall, I can't get them in one shot 😬 I'm returning most of my books to the library and am hoping that having less options will pull me out of the slump.

abbylibrarian I have a bunch going at once and I haven't finished a book in weeks! 😱Good luck! 7y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @abbylibrarian, I've got a few on the go too - but I don't feel particularly committed to any of them (I'm usually a one book at a time kind of gal) 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Reviewsbylola, that's my thinking 😅 hopefully it works! 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @MyNamesParadise, it's on my goodreads tbr shelf... 7y
slhbooks I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'm not in a slump, but I've been easily distracted. I'm still buying physical books like crazy, adding to my TBR stacks, and renewing my library books. And now I've succumbed to the $1.99 ebook deals🙄🙄🙄 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @slhbooks, yeah - my book buying has been out of control of late. Need to reassess and make sure I'm getting to books that I've genuinely been really excited about and have waited to come out... 7y
