This book lost its way somewhere around the middle. There was a great premise, compelling characters and dynamics and then it just fizzled

This book would have been much better without the romance element. The insta love took away from interesting parts of the plot and nothing would have been lost if it was cut

Cal never signed up to leave his planned life in Brooklyn, but when his father is selected as an astronaut for the Orpheus missions to Mars, Cal ends up in Texas, dealing with being on a reality show and crushing pretty hard on fellow Astrokid Leon.
A sweet romantic book where everything is saved because a teen uses his social media following for righteous good. We touch on mental health issues but it's mostly a pleasant splash in the shallow end

A teen goes with his family to live in a small town Because of a space program. He butts heads with the local Media because of his webshow. Also maybe he falls in love.

Very cute story! Space isn‘t my thing, but the plot was different compared to most YA I‘ve read recently. Some aspects (all that reality show stuff) are slightly unbelievable, but a fun book nonetheless. Anyone who had a fast moving high school romance will especially relate, which brought some fond memories... and also made me realize I graduated ten years ago 😂 It feels like yesterday!

Space exploration through the eyes of teenagers who‘s parents might be on the next shuttle out! This is a fun, sweet look at NASA on a reality show and Cal who is a teenage journalist fighting with the show runners. It‘s more detailed than that with friendships and a cute romance and women who code but I need you to go read it so I won‘t give away anything else! I loved Cal and how anxious he was all the time, I really had fun reading this story!

A quick, fun YA read that is wholly unbelievable in many ways—the depiction of NASA & the hunt for astronauts to go on a mission to Mars, the embedding of a reality tv program in that hunt, the lightning fast way the love interests figure out they are interested in each other—& more believable in others such as life in the spotlight, the impact of the space program on the families of astronauts, & teen friendships.

VanChocStrawberry Interesting! I thought the embedding of the reality show and that reality TV/streaming stuff was believable, especially in this slightly altered reality. The relationship did move fast, though. 5y

Tonight‘s book is another new book into the library. I‘m a quarter of the way through and enjoying it—suspending your disbelief is important but once that‘s done, it‘s a fun story.

Queer high schoolers, astronaut parents, NASA, and reality tv—this book is charming. I snagged an advance copy at #BEA and devoured it on the train ride home.
