So this series is comprised of three trilogies, and this book is the first one in the final trilogy. After slogging through the middle trio (the narrator of those books just isn't super likable) I was so glad to be back with Yelena! For the final three books, Snyder also gives us 3rd person perspective from a few other characters, meaning the action is spread around all over the place AND we get more Valek backstory! ⬇️

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was a great continuation of the series. Set about 8 years after their stories began, we get to see a lot of growth & change for the characters. And narration-wise this was actually told from the POV of 3 different characters, which made it more interesting to me to follow the separate storylines & see how they converged. Still really enjoying this world & these people!

That last sentence! Seriously, the best #Cliffhanger is also the worst! I was so mad/excited because I first read this book right when it came out and I had a year to wait to see what happened next!

I could sort of tell Snyder hadn't planned to write this one. It felt like she had to "change" characters to make the new plot fit them. Still though it was a nice continuation of the Yelena series. I'll read the next one if only to find out what happens after the last sentence of the book!
