I was hooked on the premise of the book, but unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. The cult aspect of the book was not fully developed and most of the characters were unlikeable, which isn‘t necessarily a bad thing, but in this case, it meant that I didn‘t really care what happened to them. A lot of the dialogue was stilted and just a bit off, and the final reveal and ending were wrapped up far too quickly. Full review: https://bit.ly/3sljJLJ 2.5⭐️

The premise of this story is what originally caught my attention and on its own could have been quite compelling. However, the style of writing but in particular the stilted, awkward and unrealistic dialogue made me want to just bang my head against the wall and ultimately made me lose interest in the story and its outcome. If you‘ve never read a psychological thriller, let this not be your first one. ⭐️⭐️ #netgalleyarc

I‘d rather be at home reading but when your oldest son and husband are the coach and assistant respectively, AND your youngest son plays on the soccer team as a mom you have to come out and cheer. ☀️📚⚽️ Not sure I like this one; the dialogue between characters is just getting under my skin and not in a good way. Only about 20% in though, hopefully it gets better? #netgalleyarc #soccermom #summereading

I forgot this book came out because I am trying to forget that I read it. Blanche is a documentary filmmaker who has a hidden past, her father was a cult leader. The first chapter of this was good, and I was really excited to read it. Honestly, I found the rest painful to read. It was no good, not thrilling, the characters were flat and I found the dialogue eye-roll worthy at times. I did not like it and would not recommend it.

I‘ve been in a #netgalley slump but this one is pulling me out. This is a strong starter and a good bus read. I think this one will be on beach read lists. I hope I don‘t miss my stop (for the second time this week 😬😬)
