Mehso-so

It is obvious from the very beginning of this book that Isenberg feels strongly that Burr has been mistreated by history. She may not be wrong in that opinion. However, her unabashed devotion to her subject makes me question her objectivity and makes me feel that I need to search out her sources before I accept her assertions. Entertaining and thought provoking book. I‘m still glad I gave it a go.

Just in case you thought politics today are uglier than in previous generations . . . Here‘s a bit from the 1800 presidential election. . . Hamilton doing his best to slander Jefferson to affect the outcome of the election. Some things never change.

I've had the chorus of The Hamilton musical song "the election of 1800" stuck in my head all week. Jefferson or Burr who would you choose if it was up to you. Such a great song

Is it weird that, as I obsessively listen to Hamilton, the person I most want to read more about is Aaron Burr (sir)?

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Nope! I had a similar reaction to reading a book about Theodore Roosevelt! 8y
bookishkai I have the same thoughts, especially as the second act progresses. 8y
iamanidhwal I've been listening to it while I go around traveling. I started in Warsaw, and that was almost three weeks ago! I think I'm obsessed 😫 8y
