My bedtime reading is still Ellis Peter's The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael, which is so very comforting: historical mysteries but there is always a romance (not involving Cadfael, the monk).
Cadfael as a character is one of my all-time favorites, as he remains kind and generous despite his years at war.
