Unfortunately it is too “preachy” in the sense that is is more a treatise on the crusades than an exciting adventure story which I was hoping for. Also I must admit that a lot of the depiction and the language about Islam and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Palestine is prejudiced and condescending
Beginning to read one of the classic adventure books I bought at a library sale. I could not resist how pretty the book is and I love the illustrations. I‘ve never read Walter Scott but I watched Ivanhoe so I hope it will be fun
