It is a very timely and interesting book. The parts showing the parallels between propaganda in wwII and today's especially Russian propaganda are very thought-provoking. I especially like how the author establishes that propaganda often lets you act up and confirm your own prejudices and darker designs. We are all deeply flawed, and because of that, we are very vulnerable to manipulation

Great audiobook. It was classified as horror, but it is more a thriller with a lot of fantastic elements. The aunt in the story is truly evil, but the two little girls who are the protagonists are very creepy in the best way

This was a really good mystery. I did not see the twist coming. The protagonist was a bit whiny and not very likable because he began the story being very self-involved, but he became a better person through this adventure 👍

Another literary cat story from Japan. The audiobook narrator captured the spirit of the protagonist cat wonderfully. It was sweet and sad told in flashbacks for part of the book and some of those I found less compelling. The human companion of our cat was a bit too saintly for my taste, but I really enjoyed the book. It has a very sad ending, so beware.

The idea is great, and the beginning is very intriguing. However, after a few chapters, I could not take more of Uncharles. I don't like the writing style, and the narrator's voice is plodding and grating, so I bailed.

However, towards the middle, the book became cutesy and lost the sharpness and psychological insight of the first half of the book. Extremely erudite and well written but it falls awkwardly between history of books, mainly in the ancient world and the author‘s memories about books and family; as well as philosophical musings about reading and life. I dislike this kind of messy book. I expected a history of books and writing in ancient times and I am not interested in the memories of the author or I would have picked a memoir.

Really good reinterpretation of Sherlock Holmes and Watson. The fantasy world was interesting and immersive and I look forward to the next adventure in the series. I particularly enjoyed that the Watson character is more active and interesting with powerful abilities and a keen intellect. I always disliked how slow and unhelpful the original Watson was in relation to Holmes.

Still one of my favorite series. Inspector Dupin does not disappoint and the French Brittany who is the other protagonist of the series together with the food is still on my bucket list to visit because of this series

Some times Libro.fm comes through with great audiobooks I didn‘t expect. This BBC dramatization of Algernon Black ghost stories is the best find for the fall months. I am keeping it in reserve for Halloween but the first story in the book was just great so I think I am going to love the rest

It is here! The new P Djeli Clark novel. It is always a treat to read his stories and he is one of the few male authors who consistently has female protagonist who also sound and feel real

I love that Jennifer Ikeda is back narrating the series, I missed her! The book is a great addition to the series but it is disappointing that it ends in a bit of a cliffhanger. Also It is less exciting than the previous books in the All Hallows trilogy because once you add kids and summer camp registration the book becomes my own life, and that‘s just not exciting, especially in a fantasy novel. Still I look forward to the next book

Easy take on Aristotle and his philosophy. A bit oversimplified, but interesting. It has made me consider looking into some of Aristotle's works.

It is still a lovely novella with a great voice. I love the world of the story but after a couple of books in the series I am ready to give up.

This is the most literary and poetic science fiction book I have ever read. I am a third of the book done and I almost don‘t care what will happen, I am just enjoying the poetry of the language and the images about the Arabian peninsula and the desert

Starting the latest Veronica Speedwell audiobook. It has become an automatic buy for me; more because of the narrator, whom I love, than the series. I tire of series easily so it is amazing I am still following Veronica‘s adventures.

Nice audiobook narration, but The book is too “nice” to Agatha. She comes across as unrealistic. The very human shortcomings Agatha the woman must have had were airbrushed, and she sounds like some kind of saint. This biography is just syrupy and makes Agatha less interesting and flat

Got this in San Antonio TX. Great book about the history of Texas and about black people‘s contribution to it, as well as the author experience as a black woman growing up in the state

Devoured this in one sitting. Horror story about ghouls attacking a Texas town with plenty of gore, a twist I did not see coming, and a family of women fighting the dead.
I am not into horror usually, but this was great because there was humor and a lot of dramatic tension mixed in.
I think the cover does the book a disservice. This has a lot of gore and horror mixed in with the banter. It is NOT some cute, sweet texas vampire story.

Great adventure fantasy. I like that it is mostly a band of women and non binary folks as protagonist bandits, but really, this I s a darker Asian version of the kind of tale the three musketeers are👍

The conceit is weird and totally crazy but this audiobook is the easy sweet fantasy to get you out of a reading slump😂. I feel the cover gives the wrong impression and makes you think horror or at least dark fantasy.

I tried a few chapters and it just isn‘t doing it for me. The protagonist feels just off as an adult is much too whiny for me. Because we are in her head all of the time I had to bail

Very sweet end to a romance/ mystery series set in Regency era. The love triangle in the middle books was not my cup of tea but the last book resolves everything quite neatly. Too nice for real life but not bad for a romantic fantasy.

So far a great little mystery with sheep as the investigators in the case of the murdered Shepard. It is fun and refreshing because the sheep only know what you would imagine a real sheep to know about, not like in a lot of books with an animal POV where the animal just sounds like a smarter human with a better sense of smell and no hands.

Love the adventure, the pacing and the dragons. Great adventure writing. Unfortunately Rebecca Yarros can‘t write romance. You are mostly in the female protagonist head, and the portions of story where Violet thinks about the male protagonist were like being in the head of a twelve year old with her first crush. Because Violet comes across like a little girl, the sex scenes feel just wrong

Sorry to say this romance did not work for me. The main couple was bland and weirdly (because I like nice in romance)too nice for me and frankly boring. Some of the side characters were much more interesting and convincing. I almost didn‘t finish the book, glad I borrowed it from the library

Carlo Rovelli is just a great science writer. It is an enjoyable argument about Anaximader role as the first real scientist and how he has not been given his due as a major figure in science, not philosophy. More importantly Rovelli discusses and explains what is science and scientific thought. It‘s limits and its strengths. Very enjoyable

Loved the set up and the magical puppet, but some of the stories didn‘t work for me. Also, the group of stories didn‘t work well as a cohesive unit the way you expect in a short story collection, but I liked the book enough that would read a Full-size novel in this world.

The title is a bit too cute for me, but the blurb by Tom Holland clinched the deal and I got my next non-fiction read. Anyway I am a big fan of ancient Rome, and a big fan of murder as well.

I am sure there will be some book by Hilary Mantel I don't enjoy, but I have not found it yet. I got the audiobook of this little gem from librofm and I highly recommend it. The ending is not fully resolved with a bow but still satisfying whichis hard to accomplish.

Finally finished! It took me a year. Yes, it was that slow of a read, but what kept me reading was the window into a way to see the world so different from ours. Four courtiers and a duchess and her ladies dicuss the properties and character of the perfect courtier. There was a truly misogynistic character and it was excellent how the other characters challenged him and called out his hatred of women.

Got the new book in the imperial radch universe. I ALSO got the audiobook. I just love Adjoa Andoh's voice and interpretation in this series. She is one of my favorite narrators. It is a wonderful treat to read the words while Adjoa wisperes in your ear

The magic of the series rubbed off. The world building is a great as ever but the very slow pacing and pointless melancholy of the characters and setting just didn‘t work for me. The writing of course, is great and the audiobook narrator excellent, but it doesn‘t save the book for me.

The audiobook was not my speed. I had to bail out after the first couple of chapters because the protagonist sounds the same killing a rapist and consoling a girl that is a victim of domestic violence. I should have loved the story, but the narrator just didn‘t work for me. I might try the paperback later on

Kingfisher is beginning to look like an auto-buy for me. This novella was creepy and fun in equal measure. Loved the retelling of the house of usher and the surprise at the ending of who the villain of the story is.
