The Nightmare Affair is the first in a gripping new urban fantasy trilogy by Mindee Arnett. Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she's a criminal. No, she's a Nightmare. Literally. Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother's infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker's house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He's hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn't get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder. Then Eli's dream comes true. Now Dusty has to follow the cluesboth within Eli's dreams and out of themto stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she's up to and marks her as the next target.

Mehso-so

This book is 4 parts romance, 1 part Hogwarts & 1 part teen sleuthing. The characters were really fun. The magical whodunnit plot was well-constructed, but my eyes rolled a bit at the trope-y “special snowflake” emphasis on the MC. The narration is cute, if a little simplistic. Also, I felt like some descriptions were more New Adult than YA at times. A cute, cozy read if you‘re in the mood for a frivolous but fun teen paranormal romance! ★★★☆☆.

"I put my hands on the side of it, surprised to find the surface warm. My gaze focused on the engravings, which depicted some ancient, magickind battle."

Pickpick

Amazing plot twists!!! If there was one things that surprised me the most, it was the amount of plot twists! Most of the time, with books like this, it's easily predictable. This was the exact opposite. Definite recommendation, if you like mystery and romance, this book is for you!

Josie Sounds like a guilty pleasure :) I added it! 8y
