A quick fun read above it tattoos and why people get them!! I have this one above, which I got for my 30th birthday as the design represents new life and I have two stars on my left wrist which I got after I got married. I want another one, something literary, but I keep changing my mind about what I want!! Do any of you have literary tattoos? Clearly I need more inspiration!!

My bookish #tattoos. Left is just a simple book to represent my love of book. On the right, the plant on the bottom is the Katniss plant!

I have two bookish tattoos. The first is just that. A book. The second is not as easily identifiable. The flowers on my right arm are the plant Sagittaria or the Katniss plant. It's my secret Hunger Games tattoo. #riotgram

This was a surprising book, with some stories that were funny, some touching, and some both. It inspired me to share one of my tattoos here. This is my book tattoo, which is on my hip. I thought this was a group that could appreciate it. 😄#tattoo #literarytattoo

julesG I've seen knitting related tattoos but never a book. I like your bookish tattoo. (And now I'm thinking about getting one myself.) 8y

I've always wanted a tattoo but haven't been able to commit to a design. This book was fun to read but didn't help my indecision. And seriously, who thought this print was easy to read? 😠

Quick palate cleanser for all the heavy news lately. Full of beautiful drawings of people's tattoos & the personal anecdotes behind them. Stories are only 1pg & are everything from moving, to silly, to sentimental. Wonderful reminder of the diversity of our experiences & that we all have a story. 💘

DiruVamp This sounds fantastic! 8y
BookishFeminist @DiruVamp It is! It would make a great coffee table book too. Only took me ~1hr to read through last night so it was refreshing. 😊 8y

kristenlcoates I LOVE this book 💕 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I love asking people about their tattoos. And telling people about mine! 8y
DiruVamp @BookishFeminist I'm sold! When it comes to tattoos I can listen and talk for hours! 8y
BookishFeminist @kristenlcoates I'm definitely a fan too now! 8y
BookishFeminist @BarbaraTheBibliophage I do too, as long as they're willing to talk about them. I don't have any ink but I've always admired it & wanted some. I'd love to hear about your tattoos! What do you have? 8y
BookishFeminist @DiruVamp Happy reading! :) 8y
WordWaller I 💗💗💗 TATTOOS. I don't like talking about mine tho. Haha not yet at least, since the only one I could afford so far is too personal. At least it's cool! (A triangle) 8y
BookishFeminist @WordWaller I definitely respect that--I try to be mindful to ask whether a person is open to talking about it rather than just diving in. They are often very personal & I know I wouldn't always want to talk w/folks even if it weren't personal! 💘 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @BookishFeminist I have three. One as a memorial for my dad (thunderbird - not the car, the bird). One because I changed my life and dumped advertising to be a massage therapist (hands around a lotus blossom). One for my DH and I (serenity in Kanji and cherry blossoms). 8y
QueenAnne @BookishFeminist wow that is very considerate of you! I have three so far and I hate it when people call me out on them point blank. Without getting to know me first! Many think you have them for the outsiders to see, but they're mine, my reminders and life lessons 😉❤️ 8y
BookishFeminist @BarbaraTheBibliophage Nice! I love that they all have personal meaning to you. If I get ink, I would likely get my Scottish family crest (Ferguson) because it looks great & the motto means a lot to me personally. 8y
BookishFeminist @QueenAnne Thanks! Though I wish more people were considerate of others' bodies & personal space so you didn't feel like you have to express gratitude for stuff like this! I wouldn't like it either if folks just started asking personal questions. Even if it isn't super personal, I'm not there for 8y
BookishFeminist @QueenAnne others' consumption & they aren't there for mine. Also, introverting--I don't like to constantly be asked questions in public bc I'm introverting, so I can only imagine if I had a prominent tattoo. No thanks! 🙅🏻 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @BookishFeminist Sounds like a cool idea - what's the motto? (If you don't mind me asking.) 8y
QueenAnne @BookishFeminist I agree completely with what you say! If only us introverts ruled the world 😉😉❤️ 8y
BookishFeminist @BarbaraTheBibliophage I don't mind! the motto is "dulcius ex asperis" - sweetness after difficulty. The crest is neat too- it's a thistle w/a bee wrapped inside a belt buckle. To be honest I could probably find things to cover me from head to foot- lots and lots of book quotes too. 8y
BookishFeminist @QueenAnne It's my belief we secretly do. The extroverts just don't know it 😜 8y
QueenAnne @BookishFeminist I like the way you think 😉 🎶who run the world? Intros🔷 8y
QueenAnne @BookishFeminist one day we'll "1984" their asses.. Only without the torture and rats hihi ??? 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @BookishFeminist That is a wonderful motto! That's the same reason why I have a lotus blossom on me. They bloom after growing through mud. And the crest sounds cool. If I had to pick a book quote, I'd be in trouble. Too many! 8y
BookishFeminist @QueenAnne Yes!! One of these days it'll happen right? I mean there's already tons written about an introvert revolution! 💪🏼 😂 8y
BookishFeminist @BarbaraTheBibliophage It is. 😊 I didn't know that about lotuses--how cool! Way too many book quotes to choose from. 8y
Merethebookgal @BookishFeminist I think tattoos and the stories behind them are so interesting! I go back and forth about if I'd get one bc I'd want it to mean something. My husband got his mom's family crest on his arm and it's beautiful. I could see myself getting some book quotes, but how to decide?? 8y
BookishFeminist @Merethebookgal My exact dilemma for why I haven't gotten one! There's so many options & I'm not particularly hung up on whether it's "permanent" but I'm still v indecisive. I also don't have very high pain tolerance so there's that also 8y

"We are our stories and tattoos are how we remember never to forget."
Whelp, cried my way right through this one--didn't I?

WordWaller OMG this exists. I need 💖 9y
kristenlcoates @WordWaller It was SOOOO good. Totally recommend, unreservedly. There's another one about chefs and their ink, specifically, coming out in October! 9y
WordWaller That's awesome! Also, I love your tattoo! 9y
