Thomas Covenant knew that despite his failure on the Isle of The One Tree, he had to return to the Land and fight. “She still did not comprehend his apprehension. But he had given her an opportunity she coveted fervidly, and she was #determined to take it at any cost. Her voice was thick with a kind of weeping she had suppressed for most of her life; but she no longer cared how much frailty or need she exposed. All the severity and detachment to which she had trained herself had fled, and she did not try to hail them back.” #QuotsyJune19 #

“I never found out who she was. I‘ve been doing that all my life. Treating people as if they were pieces of sick or damaged meat instead of actual individuals. I thought I was a #doctor, but it was only the disease or the hurt I cared about. Only the fight against death. Not the person.” #QuotsyJune19

So many quotes about #grief in this book that I couldn‘t choose only one for #QuotsyApr19! One of them even includes a previous day‘s word #folly.

“But now his voice held a hidden touch of #fever, a suggestion of effort which hinted at his more fundamental distress.” #QuotsyApr19

"My heart has rooms that sigh with dust/And ashes in the hearth./They must be cleaned and blown away/By daylight's breath./But I cannot essay the task,/For even dust to me is dear;/For dust and ashes still recall,/My love was here." #Room #QuotsyJan19 #Lost #PoetryMatters @LazyDays

Pickpick

This book was a very touching read. The previous two books in the trilogy told of the to terrible things that these characters had to endure. I was starting to care for them, and realised just how much I wanted them to succeed in their quest. No spoilers though, but I will say that I never expected it to end the way that it did.

I couldn't choose just one quote for #surrender; it's a major theme in the tagged book. #QuotsyApril18

I'm on the last book of The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Next up: the Last Chronicles. I'm glad I chose to reread all the books before finally tearing into the final volume of this epic series. I had forgotten so much! Each page reminds me why I fell in love with these books! The first book was still a bit difficult, but each new book draws me further into The Land. I anticipate a major #bookhangover afterward. #epicreread #slaythatseries
