Tagged book was the NYT best selling novel the week I graduated from high school.

Fashion was all over the place, from leisure suits and Quiana disco wear to hot pants and Candies plastic shoes. All with Lip Smackers (root beer flavor was best), Sweet Honesty perfume, and Farrah Fawcett hair,. #TLT

AnnR Root beer flavor was definitely the best in middle school. 👍🙂 (edited) 10mo
kspenmoll Hot pants with tights & platform shoes!!! 10mo
dabbe 7-Up flavor wasn't so bad either. Oh, and Candies! My feet would sweat like crazy, and I'd get blisters on my heels, but I still wore them! 😂 Remember Farrah had her own shampoo, too? And wasn't there a shampoo that claimed to have beer in it? And Charlie perfume. Whoah. #nostalgiaoverload 🖤💙🖤 10mo
dabbe @kspenmoll I could never wear platform shoes; I'd keep tripping over them! 😂 And my mom would never let us have hot pants! 😱 10mo

Mehso-so

The bestselling novel of 1979 was this thriller about two rival superspies, one American and one Soviet, who team up to fight a secret international ring of assassins. The action is fine, but it's a little tedious that everyone is motivated by revenge (there are so many "girlfriends in refrigerators" you could open an appliance store). And it didn't help that I wasn't really in the headspace for it & frequently found my mind wandering.

tokorowilliamwallace I'm chipping away at his Apocalypse Watch at 700 pages currently, almost 300 pages in. 2y
Ruthiella I read one book from him in the ‘90s but barely remember any of it 2y
swynn @tokorowilliamwallace Good luck! I was hoping for a break from thick books, but the next bestseller in this challenge is a James Michener so .... 2y

swynn @Ruthiella Yeah, I think I'm going to forget most of this one too. I mean, I was forgetting it *while,*I*was*reading*it, so I see little cause for hope. 😀 2y
tokorowilliamwallace @swynn Which challenge is that? Reading the bestsellers over the years or decades? I found Michener's Chesapeake running around 1000 pages that I want to get to soon. 2y
swynn @tokorowilliamwallace With a friend on Librarything, I'm reading each year's bestseller according to Bookman and Publishers Weekly, in lists you can see here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publishers_Weekly_lists_of_bestselling_novels_in... 2y
swynn @tokorowilliamwallace We read Chesapeake a couple of months ago. It was long. 2y

September #20in4 ? Gaah! I refuse to believe it. Fake news!

Assuming there were reasons to think that September lay only a few days away, then these would probably be the things I would read.

My chances of actually reading for twenty hours this weekend are about as likely as ... well, something very not likely to happen. The first of September being next week, say.

Rats.

@Andrew65

Ruthiella No relief for you over Labor Day weekend? 😢 2y
swynn @Ruthiella Unfortunately not. We're going to help family move. And this weekend we will help prepare for the move. I'll probably get a little reading time here & there, but it's going to be lower-priority. 2y
Andrew65 😂 Who would believe it was the end of September. Great to have you with us, good luck 😊 (edited) 2y
