So I know the author's nephew. I loved this book although it is also a harrowing look at the indignities of the apartheid era, this time from an Indian Muslim perspective. It tells the stories of two sisters in the two halves of the book and though there is much unhappiness, there is also the innocent happiness of children and plenty of humour. Knowing that the events in this book all happened to real people made it come alive for me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
