I enjoyed this but would have preferred more commentary on women's life and adventures rather than a brief paragraph. The anthologies I did enjoy have spurred me on to read more about the fascinating women. Which is a positive.

AllDebooks Gertrude Bell's attitude towards Japanese is people is far more pleasant and non-judgemental than towards Chinese people. Put into context of time of writing, a century ago, I still found her remarks discriminatory and unpleasant. But then I came upon Mildred Cable and Francesca French and their sheer delight and enjoyment of Chinese people and their customs, same time period as Ms Bell. 3y

Day 1 and 2

Completed Strange weather in Tokyo, which was a pleasant, romantic read.

Started Wild Women and finished part 1 - Africa. I really enjoyed Edith Wharton's description of her time in Morocco.
Onwards to Antarctica next.
