Not a book I will remember forever, but a very enjoyable story with not too much misery (less than I thought there would be) and an interesting glimpse into Italian-American life in the first half of the 20th century.

Rating: 3/5.

Not really my favorite Mario Puzo book but it doesn't mean that Puzo is not a master storyteller because he really is. This one is tamer than the others, I think. But then again, the struggles of Lucia Santa mirrored the struggles of Mario Puzo's mother when she first moved to the US. Just wow. Very well done.

Although the original title is The Fortunate Pilgrim, it has been translated Mamma Lucia in ltalian. And this is definitely a book about a mother.

This edition is older than l am. Acquared it at a day of exchange at a library near my town

A coworker loaned this to me during an overseas business trip. The plane ride was better than most. #booktober #immigrantstories @RealLifeReading
