Pickpick

I recently lost someone so this particular title hit me pretty hard. It's an older but well-done YA suspense with some genuine thrills & feels. It's good enough Disney decided to make a film version in 1980, which is where the still above comes from.

bookishkai Is the book less scary than the movie? It rightfully terrified me as a child, and a friend watched it recently with her own kids and said it was just as frightening in her 30's as it was when she was a kid. 9y
Soscha It has suspenseful moments (don't think it's a spoiler to say "tree" & "mirrors") but I wouldn't consider it super-scary or even a horror novel. I'd more consider it suspense or even scifi. My impression is the film was going for the scary elements. I found the full film on YouTube so will watch. 9y
