#LilithJuly Day 21: #FeelSoHigh “This book contains a lot of valuable information about Bessie Coleman, from being a young girl who wanted to be somebody to being a fearless flyer who made her nation proud. Bessie is a good role model for kids with low self-esteem & those who feel that they wouldn‘t amount to anything. Her difficult early years transformed her into a daring pilot that she grew up to be.” Fats‘ full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-bUP

A story of overcoming barriers, Bessie Coleman was the first female African-American pilot. She had to go to France to learn to fly and get her license, as no one would teach her in the U.S. She refused to fly in any airshow that didn't allow both black and white people to attend. From sharecropper childhood in Texas to pilot - an incredible story that my son and I have read many times. #inspiredbymlk #readjanuary
