Nadia: The Girl Who Couldn't Sit Still | Karlin Gray
9 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
Nadia Comaneci was a feisty and fearless little girl who went from climbing trees in the forests of Romania to swinging into history at the 1976 Olympic Games, where she received an unprecedented seven perfect scores in gymnastics. But as readers will see in this first-ever illustrated picture book about Nadia's journey to Olympic gold, the road from small-town girl to world-class athlete was full of many imperfect moments. Expert illustrations that capture the energy and fluidity of Nadia's exuberant gymnastic routines and referential back matter round out this inspirational story of determination and overcoming adversity. A perfect 10.

This NF book is a great add to your library! It is about a Romanian gymnast named Nadia who won gold metals in the olympics at only 14! Talks about working hard and growing up! 10/10! #UCFLAE3414SP21

ReaganT Activity work book to go along with the story! https://kidminds.org/nadia-activity-pack/ This would be great for a read aloud (would be cool during olympics) focusing on UDL 9.3 develop self-assessment and reflection and ESOL strategy 28- provide biographies of significant men and women from different countries 3y
DrSpalding Medals yes... I remember watching her in the Olympics. English learner strategy 28 is absolutely perfect for picture book biographies that can inspire elementary age students. 3y

“And one reporter asked her when she would retire. “Retire?“ she replied “I'm 14 years old!“

This is a great book to show the true strengths of a young girl, hopefully inspiring others. I think it's a great way to display women in athletics!

Published in 2016, this children's biography is about how Nadia Comaneci came about 7 perfect scores in the 1976 Olympic games. This is great to introduce in your classroom and show that women can also be in athletics as she grew up loving all sports, and couldn't sit still. As a 14-year-old girl, she was able to defy all expectations.

This page is awesome because it shows how much hard work that she had to put in to be the first person yo get a perfect score in the event.

Biography and was written in 2015. This book is the story of the life of nadia comaneci. The story begins with nadia as a child swinging from branch to branch back at her house in Romania. Her parents got her into gymnastics and she practiced and practiced until she got to the Olympics. She won five medals and became the first person to ever record a perfect 10 in her event.

An enjoyable picture book biography, if a bit sugarcoated for the elementary set. It did interest my son, and we watched Nadia‘s Olympic routines on YouTube.

Our daughter is named after a So African Rock star. Nadia would have fit just as well!
As soon as she saw the title, my daughter said, "Yes, please?"
