Oops. I'm a day late for #bookpairings, but it would be interesting to compare and contrast these two and talk about why this image is relevant for both books. I got to hear Kali VanBaale last fall. She was an engaging speaker & The Good Divide is a captivating story. If you are a reader who skips to the end first, don't do it! #fallintobooks

lynneamch I haven't yet read this one, but heard it is excellent, as well. 7y

This book is about farm life in Wisconsin, small town politics, and wanting a big life. Loved it fiercely and loved when part took place where I live. #riotgrams

The latest from author Kali VanBaale! Think Midwestern gothic. Set in 1960s Wisconsin. #titlewithgood #aprilbookshowers

Continuing "Operation Read More 2016 Releases" this morning. ??❤️

Lizpixie I need this shirt for my youngest daughter! She's obsessed with unicorns, she has stuffed ones, blowup ones, one that has a heat pack in its tummy that she uses for her endo pain & a plastic one that poops jellybeans. My hubby keeps finding weird & wacky versions for her, this shirt would be perfect.🦄🌈 7y
Liberty @Lizpixie I got it off etsy. But my friend ordered one, too, and it never arrived and she had to file a complaint. So maybe look for it on a different site. 😊 7y

Eh. The character study of Jean drive the book. But there are a lot, too many descriptions of sweaty people so that the book felt overworked.

This is just straight up Midwestern living. Like if you grew up in the 1970s this book feels like your people unlike the last one I read where ladies were chopping up dead men.

MrBook Chopping up dead men 😂👏🏻. Oh my. 8y

A lot is packed into this relatively slim book. Bleak Midwestern, character driven, a little Ethan Frome-y, but in a good way

Wow. This small books packs a huge wallop. 2 women in 2 houses separated by 1 driveway on 1 dairy farm in Wisconsin. It's told from the viewpoint of 1 women, alternating between the early 50s and early 60s.

One of my heavier reading months this year, though all my reads were great. On to July, which means time to only read backlist.
