If you enjoy #bookpairings - consider these!

Brown tells us that true belonging is being fully yourself wherever you go, and being able to stand alone. True belonging “doesn‘t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.” Meanwhile, fitting in is the opposite of belonging.

Tan explores this theme of belonging vs fitting in and I found a lot of parallel thoughts.

It‘s a good fiction/non-fiction pairing.

This book was a surprise but in the best way. It was a quick read and perfect for summer and the beach but also tackled some real issues (rape culture, feminism, homophobia, and religion).

I was wondering if anyone else felt the connection to Educated by Tara Westover? I think these two books would make for a fascinating conversation. #bookpairings

JenReadsAlot I just started Educated today! 6y

Well, I just finished this book and I am highly recommending it. It is the story of General Dumas who was the son of a white man and enslaved Black woman who rose to the rank of Brigadier General in the 18th century France. This book is filled with history as it changes throughout the life of Dumas. Thoroughly researched and excellently told. I am so happy I learned of this man and his extroardinary life. Reading his sons book next! #bookpairings

Gezemice Wow, I did not know that! Sounds like I need to read this! 6y
Liatrek I started this book and still need to finish but I‘ve really enjoyed what I read so far. I did buy the Count of Monte Cristo to read once I finish this one. 6y
Foxyfictionista I loved this book so much!! 6y

I have taken to pairing books for reading. Does anyone else do this? I am truly enjoying the contrast between these two authors and styles. #bookpairings

SqueakyChu I was just thinking about how much I loved Drinking Coffee elsewhere since today is National Coffee Day. I also just got that same Eggers book out of the library this week! Synchronicity? 5y
MsLeah8417 @SqueakyChu I love that! 😊 5y

So I‘m starting something new next month, something I‘ve been wanting to do for quite some time. #bookpairings April will be too nonfiction books about the last slaves to arrive in the United States from Africa! I know a little bit about this story but not enough. One book has been out for a few years, the other is the Zora Neale Hurston book coming out soon! I‘m actually really excited about this.

Graywacke Fascinated that ZNH wrote on this, and curious why it‘s just now released. 6y
ohyeahthatgirl SO EXCITED for the new ZNH! 6y
TheNextBook @Graywacke I know! It seems really interesting. I‘ll definitely be posting about both books! 6y
TheNextBook @ohyeahthatgirl Yes!!!! I know! As soon as I heard about I knew I had to try and get an ARC. 6y

Late #FallIntoBooks posts!

One of my favorite #bookpairings to do is pair books with an album or artist that gives me the same feel as the book (not necessarily a reading soundtrack). I'm pairing My Brilliant Friend with Parellel Lines by Blondie ❤ Headstrong female characters going through tough times in adolescence go so well together with this album!

Thinking of making this a weekly series - what do you think? #litsybooksandmusic !
