A fascinating & insightful window into the world of a career diplomat trying her best to foster the values of democracy in the most challening situations. Yovanovich brings to life the fears, losses, & successes of each posting, finally as the U.S. Ambassador to #Ukraine in 2016, then her unjust removal & subsequent testimony. I admire her so much. I had bailed on thus one awhile back, but decided to give it another try after seeing these turtles all the way down a log on my walk last week. Seemed like a sign. I'm glad I did. I thought Green did an effective job of showing the challenges and frustrations of dealing with intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. It is ultimately a hopeful message about having a fulfilling life with all of its ups and downs. #mentalhealth

Charmed so far by this story of a young girl sent to live with her Aunt Etta who sews for wealthy tobacco families. Maddie designs and sews her own clothes.
