Good book to start with to learn the basics about poetry. As someone with no formal training in poetry and just wanted to know more about form and what goes into a poem to better understand the meaning and craft, this book is perfect!

My reading buddy and I enjoyed this one. Poetry was compared to music and divided into categories: wisdom, characters, feelings, difficulty, form, and community. Also, the important distinction that we don‘t read or fall in love with poetry, but with individual poems that speak to us in some way. Loved the breadth of selection of new and old poets she mentioned. Poems shouldn‘t be feared, but explored. Enjoyable read. 😊
