Executive Power
Executive Power | Vince Flynn
1 post | 12 read | 1 to read
Mitch Rapp's cover has been blown. After leading a team of commandoes deep into Iraq, he has been publicly hailed by the president as the single most important person in the war against terrorism. After years of working covertly behind the scenes, Rapp is now in the glare of the public spotlight, marked by every terrorist from Jakarta to London, who now know his identity. Consequently, Rapp is resigned to leaving the front line. That is, until a platoon of Navy SEALs on a covert mission to the Philippines suffers a surprise attack. All evidence concludes that the source of the mission's leak lies in the US State Department and the Philippine embassy. But a greater threat still lurks - an unknown assassin working closely with the highest powers in the Middle East bent on igniting war. Now, with the world probing into his every move, will Rapp be able to overcome this anonymous foe and once again protect the world from the threat of international terrorism? The new Vince Flynn novel, The Survivor, will be published in autumn 2015!

Pickpick

Mitch Rapp is America‘s top counterterrorism expert. Working for the CIA, Rapp finds himself on the trail of a terrorist seeking to destroy the state of Israel. The book is told from multiple points of view and there are several plots working simultaneously. Flynn manages to tie them all together by the conclusion. My only complaint, and it is my own fault, is that I think it is necessary to read Flynn‘s novels in order. This is a great thriller.

suvata My husband is a huge Mitch Rapp fan 6y
SandyW Probably not necessary, but I always findout satisfying, especially if you can binge read a group of them. Thanks for pointing out the n 6y

suvata @Richryan52 Will do 6y
SandyW Haven't heard of him before, but I have put Power Down on my TBR. Thanks! 6y
Richryan52 @SandyW the books are by Ben Coes. My favorite authors are Lee Child, Daniel Silva and Stephen Hunter 6y
SandyW I too enjoy Lee Child and Daniel Silva. I'll look into Stephen Hunter. If you haven't tried Michael Connelly, I'd highly recommend it. I binge read the Harry Bosch series last summer and loved it! 6y
Richryan52 @SandyW There also this other writer I really like Richard T. Ryan 6y
Richryan52 @SandyW on your recommendation I‘m now reading the first Harry Bosch novel 6y
SandyW I hope you like it! I won't get around to Power Down for awhile. I have a slew of library holds all coming in over the next few weeks. But I'll touch base on that after I've read it. If you like Harry as much as I did, you'll be spending plenty of time with him over the next few weeks. 6y
Richryan52 @Sandyw Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? 6y
SandyW I've never read any Holmes, nor have I watched the movies, but I love the BBC Benedict Cumberbatch tv show. 6y
Richryan52 @SandyW I‘d love to have you check out my Holmes novels 6y
SandyW So I just spent the last few minutes figuring out you are an author. I am always impressed by that... Which book would you recommend first? 6y
Richryan52 @sandyw. Everyone loves the Vatican Cameos, including Lee Cild who called it “an extravagantly imagined and brilliantly written Holmes story.” However, there is some, two chapters, of adult content 6y
SandyW That one seems more interesting (Amazon blurbs). I will check it out after the holidays. Lee Child, wow! As for the adult content, not an issue, I'm an adult. 6y
Richryan52 @SandyW ok. It‘s all based on history but a few people didn‘t care for it 6y
Richryan52 @Sandyw was reading the first harry bosh when the notice flashed on my screen 6y
Richryan52 @Sandy‘s Finished the second Bosch book and the first season of the series. Titus Welliver is a great Bosch 6y
