I love scary stories, so this collection of tales seemed like a fitting selection. The Conception of Terror: Tales Inspired by M. R. James, Volume 1, is a collection of four short stories all designed to invoke fear. Audible does a great job with narration to include music and sound effects. Listening to this audiobook is a full theatrical performance in your ears.

This was a really fun one to listen to while I‘m making masks. Creepy music, creepy stories, all dramatized. I just wish there were more!

This short audio collection contains dramatizations of four short stories. The acting was pretty good, if a little over the top. Though I did enjoy the stories. The scariest thing about these stories is the sense of dread in daily life. Seemingly mundane things and events go pear shaped very quickly. Not the best thing I‘ve ever read, but it was a fun little read.
