The Weighing of the Heart
The Weighing of the Heart | Paul Tudor Owen
4 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
Following a sudden break-up, Englishman in New York Nick Braeburn takes a room with the elderly Peacock sisters in their lavish Upper East Side apartment, and finds himself increasingly drawn to the priceless piece of Egyptian art on their study wall - and to Lydia, the beautiful Portuguese artist who lives across the roof garden. But as Nick draws Lydia into a crime he hopes will bring them together, they both begin to unravel, and each find that the other is not quite who they seem. Paul Tudor Owen's intriguing debut novel brilliantly evokes the New York of Paul Auster and Joseph O'Neill.

A big day in work today and the plan is in place for us to return to school on 2nd June. I'll be working with our vunerable children. I'm worried because social distancing is extremely hard, but I will always be there for the children.
Life is full of pros and cons and the cons are definitely the red apple 🍎 Thinking positive and of all the good things in life 🍏 Books are definitely up there along with all your lovely posts ❤

TrishB Good luck ❤️ I didn‘t think any schools were going back in Liverpool?. Very hard decisions for staff and parents. 4y
suzie.reads @TrishB I work in West Lancs and they haven't said anything different yet so our head has set up a plan of action. I was in today and children just come right up to you and what can you say to them without upsetting them? We have limited numbers coming back, more so the children who's parents are going back to work than the year groups the government have said. 4y
MsMelissa Good luck! We‘re slowly starting to open things up here, but school will only be online for the rest of the school year, which finishes at end June. It‘s going to be interesting to see what happens come September when the next school year kicks off, and what types of precautions are taken. I imagine that what happens in the U.K. and other locations where schools are reopening will be watched closely. 4y

"The Weighing of the Heart" is a cleverly constructed story that I'd highly recommend. It's difficult to review a book like this without giving too much away, but there's art, romance, a little bit of comedy, some drama and most importantly a crime. 5 stars!
