“Sergio likes many things, but the 3 things he loves the most are soccer, fishies, and water.“
“Sergio likes many things, but the 3 things he loves the most are soccer, fishies, and water.“
I really loved the pictures in this book! They complement the story so beautifully. I think that children would love to hear the story, but they could also enjoy the story solely from the pictures!
This picture book was a cute story about a penguin named Sergio, and Sergio can't swim! Eventually he learns to swim and enjoys it! I really liked this story because the illustrations use a lot of contrasting colors to make a statement about the story. You could follow the story just from the illustrations! I think that this is a cute story and it would be good on the classroom shelf.
I liked this quote because it showed that sergio did what he was scared of and got out the other side
I would read this to maybe kindergarteners or 1st graders if we‘re going swimming and they‘re scared, or if we‘re doing something else for the first time and they‘re not sure how they feel about it
This is a picture book. I liked this book because it‘s showing kids that they can do things they‘re afraid of
“Great, next time we‘ll swim without the floaties! Sergio will have to think about that...”
This book is so cute and I‘m a sucker for penguins and a good message!
Sergio Makes a Splash is a picture book by Edel Rodriguez. It was written in 2008. This book was super cute and very enjoyable for all ages. It tells a good message about facing your fears and trying new things. The illustrations are also amazing and the author uses a good mixture of a few colors, blank space and curved lines. I think this would be a great book for in the classroom.
“Suddenly there is another BIG SPLASH and Sergio pops out of the water!“
I would use this book in my classroom because it is a great book to discuss overcoming certain fears. This could open doors for children to express their own fear and come up with ways to overcome it, just like Sergio.
Sergio Makes a Splash written by Edel Rodriguez. This book is about Sergio, a bird who can't fly, and is nervous when his class goes on a field trip to swim and Sergio can't swim. This book uses different fonts and sizes which keeps the reader(s) engaged and can give different ways to express emotion and different ways to read certain words, like LARGER!
