Where to Begin
Where to Begin: A Small Book About Your Power to Create Big Change in Our Crazy World | Cleo Wade
9 posts | 6 read | 7 to read
Cleo Wade’s second anthology of heartfelt poetry and prose builds on the wisdom of her bestselling book Heart Talk, encouraging you to remain hopeful and harness your personal power to bring positive change into our world. Where to Begin is perfect for those who are ready to be a part of building a society rooted in love, acceptance, justice, and equality. From Cleo Wade: Where to Begin is a collection of the ideas, mantras, and poems I turn to when I feel like I am losing it. I wrote this so that I could put them all in one place when I felt overwhelmed by worry, fear, anxiety, or helplessness. The words in this book are what stop me from walking away from the problems of the world during tough times. They also help me stay connected to hope during difficult moments and remind me that even on the days that feel the most daunting, I still have the power to show up and do something, somewhere, in some way. Change-making comes in all sizes. It doesn’t always have to be one big gesture or nothing. As my friend Jenna often says, “The big stuff is the small stuff.” Your big life is made up of a collection of all of your small moments. Our big world is a made up of a collection of all of our small actions. This book is about where to begin.

I just can't help myself. Now, 7 books out from the library might not seem like much, and 2 of them are books I previously had to return unread because of the move. But I have 15 others on hold, and if they all come in I don't think they'll even let me check them all out. 😅 And, of course, I'm currently reading... um... 4 different non-library books. 🙈

thegirlwiththelibrarybag 🤣 sounds like me! Maybe suspend the ones you think will come in soon so that you‘ve got some time to catch up (or just to admire them in a pile for a couple of weeks til they have to go back… which is something that happens sometimes 🫣) 13mo
Leniverse @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Yes, yes that happens too. 😆 And I just had another one come in, actually. At least it's just a novella. 😅 13mo
squirrelbrain They might let you have them all…when I last asked at my library they said I could have 30! 13mo
Leniverse @squirrelbrain 😱 That would be dangerous. 😂 But some of the books I'm number lots in line so I don't think they'll all come in at once. 13mo

Take an hour out of your day to read this collection of mantas, poems, and inspiration. And always remain hopeful.

I'm stuck between So-So and Pick, but this book includes using kindness, love and understanding to combat racism which I'm not entirely sure would work.

If white people are racist against anyone of a different skin colour than themselves, it would be detrimental to that person's livelihood, so how could they possibly think acting with understanding towards that white person would benefit them? It just seems too idealistic for me.
