Having read a few other books of hers, I've been curious about this, her debut novel. I devoured this book in a couple sittings. Its bracing, vitriolic satire of American culture had its moments of dark humour, some almost as dark as & reminiscent of Lautreamont. The book possesses a bristling, clear-eyed anger. Like the best satires, it challenges its reader to see the world in a critical & new way. Compulsively readable & ultimately unsettling.
