Just got this one. I plan on reading it to the class tomorrow.
Yes, it is hot and humid today, but #Misch-Evie-ous and I are determined our half day from school. Full on tomorrow!
I haven‘t had a lot of time to read this week with it being teacher work week to get the classroom ready. But using my Sunday to research outdoor lessons I can do with my students.
Working on this one tonight for #NewberyChallenge. I know I‘ve read it, but I just haven‘t documented it anywhere so it doesn‘t count to me.
Been working on unpacking boxes and organizing bookshelves. This is just one of many. (My husband thinks I‘ve got too many books. — too many books for what is what I want to know) 😉
Finally found these beauties in the unpacking!
Caught, but not repentant. #Misch-Evie-Ous.
Spending my day searching for this one. I stepped outside for a moment and she jumped up on the screen door. She either hit the latch or had enough body weight to force it. I‘m at 4 hours plus chasing her through the neighborhood. Let‘s hear it for #Misch-Evie-Ous!
Evening reading. Still very hot because house hasn‘t cooled down. At least we really can‘t hear fireworks so Evie is calm. #MountTBR
These were my and my son‘s choices from Lemuria in Jackson, Mississippi. He said he had been looking at the Mary Roach but didn‘t choose it. I said I‘d let him read it when I was done. When I was done.
The second bookish stop was awesome also. The Alabama Booksmith in Birmingham and it only sells autographed copies. #roadtrip2018
You pit stop your way on a #roadtrip and I‘ll pit stop my way!
We have left the present and stepped into the past to discover character motivation (I suppose). And I find myself looking for other things to do at the end of each chapter. Or is it that I‘m sitting amongst boxes, getting geared up for my cross-country drive tomorrow? Hmmm.
Hercule Poirot is invited by a most interesting man to a dinner party. Mr. Shaitana collects unusual things and wants to show off his collection of unconvicted murderers. Shaitana assembles four sleuths and 4 murderers. Shaitana, of course, ends up murdered while his guests play bridge. Poirot, Ariadne Oliver, Colonel Race, and Superintendent Battle join forces to find out the past crimes in order to solve this one.
So. With the final stage of the move finally upon us (it‘s only been 1 1/2 year separation for my husband and I), my son and I will drive from Louisiana to Virginia next week. My plan is to hit Lemuria in Jackson, MS, along the way. Because bookstores make good stops on road trips. Any other suggestions?
Hastings shows up on Poirot's doorstep as the latter is about to leave the country on a big case. After a man stumbles in giving Poirot a clue about something he has suspected – 4 criminals working together to cause unrest in the world, aka the Big Four. Poirot fakes leaving England to take them on.
Like super villains against a master sleuth. At times it seemed a bit cartoony.
Animals around an abandoned country house excited because rumor of a new family moving in. Could help with food supply because food has been scarce. Will have to decide if these are good folks or bad folks for animals.
I think my younger students would really enjoy this as a read aloud. #NewberyChallenge
Daughter remembers the path to familial implosion after Dad decides to step back from the family farm and leave the management to his two eldest daughters and their husbands, thereby cutting out the youngest daughter.
Trying to gauge my feelings about this story. I don't think I really liked anyone. Not even sure if I feel sorry for anyone of them. But I did want to see what happened.
