I loved this story. Told from two different timelines one present day. The other timeline is during WWII. If I had one complaint it‘s with the character Alice. Although she‘s supposed to be a 16 yr old girl, she reads more like an adult. Despite that one pet peeve the story was a quick and enjoyable read.

French Resistance fighters in WWII and a contemporary 16 year old are the narrators. Paris remains the setting. The historical portion is intense and atmospheric. The contemporary portion felt awkward as she is very independent and mature. The character reads as a 20ish young woman, not a teen.

When Alice inherits an apartment in France, she has no idea that it's been locked for decades. The story of a modern girl and a past French Resistance fighter, this story was wonderful and heartbreaking.

A fabulous YA book about a young lady who tries to find out about her family during WWII. Alice inherits her grandma‘s apartment in Paris that has been left unoccupied since the war. When she finds a diary of her great aunt, she digs into the past.

Historical fiction about a girl in France in wwii who works for the resistance but can‘t tell her family.

This story is about a girl who's grandma passes away and finds out she was left with an apartment in paris. This apartment has been locked up for over 75 years and Alice wants to know why? Alice meets Paul who begins helping Alice uncover the secrets that the apartment holds.

This book is told from two points of view Alice (present) and Adalyn (past). Alice is surprised when her grandmother dies and learns that she left her an apartment in Paris. When she gets to Paris she realizes her grandmother had a sister Adalyn. What happened to her? Her grandmother never talked about her. In the book we find out that Adalyn was part a resistance group . This book had me on the edge of my seat as we traveled through Paris.
