My husband and I listened to this audiobook while working on jigsaw puzzles. It had some interesting anecdotes, but didn't have much of a narrative. I would have liked more context about what was going on outside the zoos.

I love anything about the former GDR, as I spent a high school exchange program in West Germany. I had no idea the level of crazy intrigue & competition that grew up between the two zoos in divided Berlin! Caveat: there's some dire and tragic stuff that happens for the zoo animals in the beginning, when Germany loses WW2 & Berlin is bombed/invaded by the Red Army.
I received an ARC of this book from #netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Newest ebook! I‘m already totally sucked in (I love books about the DDR) so I guess my crappy book streak has ended! 🎉
