I liked this book even though it felt wrong to. It made me LOL. It hits on some interesting issues about relationships, religion & body image.But it's quotes like this that drove me nuts. If you can fit in a size 0 after losing 17 lbs, you were never fat. Also, don't assume fat people are miserable!

Carol She had been to fat camp as a teen and definitely had something to say about how he protagonist only needed to lose 30 lbs, as opposed to, say, 300. 9y

I'm really enjoying this book. The main characters are sharp, and the plot is interesting. EXCEPT...it is set at fat camp and the narrator is 15 lbs overweight. 🙄🙄🙄 I understand the camp is a plot device, but couldn't it be art or archery camp? Plus some of the minor characters are stereotypes.

Megabooks The camp is a plot device to get the narrator, a counselor, close to a camper, but I could take this book and rewrite it just as well plot wise at an art camp or an drama camp without all the "gosh I feel so fat since I can't see my hipbones" moments. @Texasblues 9y
Megabooks @Texasblues I feel insulted as an overweight person that a "15 lbs heavier than ideal" person feels they can understand the fat experience. The character thinks she knows what it feels like to be fat since she hates herself when she overeats! ????? 9y

Doing a late night start on this one. I read about it in Bad Feminist, and something about it caught my eye. We'll see. I hope I like it because I bought it!
