This book is well written. The author took care to represent the facts correctly. I found it difficult to read about these Christians. As I should I suppose.

I randomly picked this up on #Netgalley and really liked it. It‘s based on the true story of missionaries in the 1950‘s who conceitedly believe that an isolated native tribe in Ecuador needed to be saved. It is well written with a propulsive plot and you can tell the author did a lot of research.
I was absolutely enthralled by this book, right from the get go. Inspired by the true story of five missionaries who were killed in the Ecuadorian Amazon and the families left behind, Five Wives examines the dark legacy of missionaries and colonialism and the dangerous consequences of good intentions. The characters are not likeable, but they are completely and genuinely human. Definitely worth reading all the author's notes at the end!
We are home from the cabin and my quiet little reading spot with a view. I completed @Andrew65's #AwesomeAugust Readathon and surpassed my goals!
✅ Read an hour a day

A compelling book that asks important questions about the true story of the missionaries in Ecuador, their motivations and the consequences of their actions. #bookclubreads
