The Geometry of Holding Hands
The Geometry of Holding Hands: An Isabel Dakhousie Novel | Alexander McCall Smith
4 posts | 6 read
One of the author's most beloved characters is back--and once again she will have to call upon her powers of deduction and her unflappable moral code to unravel a new philosophical mystery. In Edinburgh, rumors and gossip abound. But Isabel well knows that such things can't be taken at face value. Still, the latest whispers hint at mysterious goings-on, and who but Isabel can be trusted to get to the bottom of them? At the same time, she must deal with the demands of her two small children, her husband, and her rather tempestuous niece, Cat, whose latest romantic entanglement comes--to no one's surprise--with complications. Still, even with so much going on, Isabel, through the application of good sense, logic, and ethics, will, as ever, triumph.

Pickpick

The latest in the Isabel Dalhousie series by Alexander McCall Smith. Isabel is again called to help in a number of situations. It's been a while since I read this series, I think this is book 13. I have missed books 11 and 12. I have always enjoyed this series. It is always nice to read about Edinburgh.

Isabel is asked by a stranger to be the executor for his will and Cat's developing relationship with Leo brings major changes at the deli.

This brings me up to date with this series, and at some point I'd like to go back and read the whole thing right through.

We are such a social species, Isabel thought; it doesn‘t really matter what the occasion—we are a species that likes to cluster together for shelter, just as we did all those ages ago, in our caves, while creatures larger and stronger than ourselves prowled about outside. We liked company, and fire, and the warmth that both gave.
