So my first thought it that this book is cute and I really like it, however, we are a more enlightened age. This book is all about being who you are born to be. You cant be someone/thing else because you were not born the way they were. And while my initial reaction is I like this book, my second thought is how would a trans kid feel reading this, and it makes me think this book is not so great.

This F book by Dev Petty is perfect for grades K-2 and would be great for RAs, but could easily be turned into RT for students because of the back and forth dialog in the book. This book is about a frog who wants to be anything other than a wet, slimy frog. The frog ends up accepting his lot in life when he learns the grass isn‘t always greener and there‘s nothing wrong with being a frog. #ucflae3414sp18

AndreaG I would use this book for RT with repeated readings to work on fluency and expression, and focus the lesson on loving oneself and use this as a lead in to a science lesson, learning about habits and facts about the animals mentioned in the book. paulettevp I like the idea of the RT for fluency. I also think that any chance to teach kids the message behind a story should be taken. Great classroom application. I haven‘t read many books with this back and forth dialogue because it‘s usually a narrator so this would be a nice change to check it out. 7y
