Potty time has been taking a bit lately, so I grabbed a cozy to read while we wander. 🐶💕

Golly this was not good. There was nothing cozy about this. (*wait* there are a few recipes in the back 😆)
Trisha, the MC, seems to have a fairly depressing life, the town is full of unpleasant people, and there is more out-of -left-field drama than you can shake a stick at. I can‘t think of anything positive or cozy about it.

mabell The writing is average, not witty or clever. Even the murder investigation doesn‘t save it, as the denouement was unable to be deduced from anything the reader had been told. It was as if the author didn‘t know how to tie a motive, so she fabricated a nonexistent back story in the last 10 pages.

2012 for #192025

mabell @tpixie That‘s ok - my shelves are full of plenty more to try! 😄 I love the cozy genre; I just don‘t seem to love many of the examples. 🤷‍♀️ 2y
tpixie @mabell yes there‘s always more to read! They can‘t all be 5 stars ⭐️ 2y
Librarybelle Like @tpixie said - definitely not all 5 stars. Sad this one was poorly done 2y

Mehso-so

As predicted, I finished this quintessential #cozy at the nail salon. It‘s...fine. Characters are a bit two-dimensional and disagreeable. Setting is charming. Story and writing are a little clunky. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 for the setting, cat, and recipes.

Checks off New Hampshire for #50states of mystery.

This was good. I enjoyed it. I listened to the audio, and it was done well. For now, at least, I‘ll continue on with the series (although I‘m not impressed with Tricia‘s newest employee!).
