Face of War | Martha Gellhorn
2 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
This volume collects Gellhorn's global reportage from the Spanish Civil War to the current troubles in Central America. Whether recording the smell of summer grass over Normandy beaches or the suspended daily life of the mother of a "disappeared" Salvadoran, her passionate allegiance to truth shines throughout the work.

#24in48 hour 12 challenge: these two books have greatly expanded and influenced my worldview. Martha Gellhorn has taught me not to take the press at face value and to question all governments. She journeyed across the world to report on wars and their affects on local populations.

The 2nd book is about 3 different mother-daughter relationships in 3 different areas of Palestine and how religion, politics and wars affected each of them.
