Tracked a used copy of this story collection I came across while reading another book from South Korea. The title itself is certainly interesting. Hopefully it‘ll be an entertaining read.

Some books I borrowed for #koreanmarch
"What he had written down was not the taxi‘s license plate, but the phone number of the next bar they were heading to. No one had been concerned for me."
-"Pinky Finger"
Ouch. ?
"The windows facing the road shone with yellow light, like the cells of honeycomb oozing with honey."
-"On That Green, Green Grass"
"Past midnight, the apartment plaza twenty-nine stories below was as quiet as a reservoir."
-"The Dress Shirt"
"Eunok stood on her balcony on the top floor and gazed down at the other six apartment towers, which had been built at varying heights. They spread below her feet like terraces. After a while, the shiny rooftop railings seemed to wash in like the waves, wetting her feet, only to be washed out again."
-"The Dress Shirt"
A book of dark, disturbing, and sometimes funny, short stories translated from Korean. These were a little frustrating because I definitely felt the indie movie WHAT‘s GONNA HAPPEN NEXT?!!-credits vibe from them. The writing was great. I had some serious pictures and smells in my head. I cared about the well drawn characters. I really want to know what a full novel looks like from this author. Pick!
So many great, dark stories of women struggling with men and children and family (and some stories of men struggling too). A great range of characters and settings. Bleak and real and excellent.
Adding this into the reading mix: short stories translated from Korean. The first two were great.
