Omg please get this book off YA shelves immediately. This is a YA mystery-thriller that revolves around two sapphic girls, photography, and murders. That's the bare minimum I can give because I think the synopsis of this book is misleading. The girls‘ relationship is toxic and manipulative and no real world consequences of this are shown or dealt with. The romance should have been one book and the murdering artist a second. Anyway, no. Just no.

I had to put the two months together for two reasons. First, I spent so much time in January caring for my brother that I started She'sToo PrettytoBurn, but didn't finish it until early February. Secondly, I missed posting yesterday.

I listened to this while I got my walk on. 🚶‍♀️
It's a fast paced, LGBTQ friendly, YA thriller/mystery/love story. It is told from the dual perspectives of protagonists Veronica and Mikela, who are equally likable but vastly different. It deals with friendships, young love, teen/parent relationships, the nature of art, and environmental activism. The ending, while satisfying, leaves the story ripe for a sequel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This library hold popped up and I honestly don‘t remember placing it, but thought: what the hell, look at that stunning cover! 🤩 Teens Veronica and Mackenzie (Mick) fall hard for each other. They also fall into the performance art world with Veronica‘s BFF Nico. They make political statements, they break laws, and it‘s exhilarating until it‘s not. Shit gets DARK. Pretty fucking bananas and unbelievable, but entertaining enough.

Cinfhen Awesome cover, fabulous review but im taking a pass 🙄sounds SUPER YA 😬 3y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Yeah; it was really annoying and melodramatic at times. 😬 3y

The description says this book is an “expertly plotted YA thriller”. Umnn. Maybe not so much. It is very much a character study of these two girls and the world around them. It was pretty ho hum until the audio book was 52% complete and we get the first dead body. Then the rest wraps up pretty quickly. Some of it was predictable, some a little cringe inducing, and some truly entertaining. However, I would not really call it a thriller.
