Including 14 step-by-step projects that combine fabrics from different lines and genres with clear guidelines to encourage mixing and matching, you'll no longer fear the play between fabrics and colors! For each pattern, there are four sidebar features to experiment with; Leap of Faith suggestions, Confidence Booster tips, alternative digital colorations, and Fearless Takeaways lists. From incorporating negative space to manipulating traditional blocks into modern settings, gain the skills to confidently choose, improvise, and embrace your own sense of style to apply to future projects. Written by an Aurifil designer, Sarah J. Maxwell is the perfect teacher to help you reach your fullest quilting potential! She is also a fabric and pattern designer for Studio 37 Fabrics with countless quilts to her credit. Her work is regularly featured in both McCall's Quilting and McCall's Quick Quilts for the past several years, as well as Make Modern, Simply Moderne, American Patchwork & Quilting, Quilts & More, and many other magazines.

I‘m glad I took @LibrarianRyan advice and checked this out from my library. It was not for me. Designing quilts using traditional patterns is one of my favorite things, and I love playing with different fabrics and colors. There was little “fresh” about this book for me. There are better design books out there, so definitely #borrownotbuy if you want to check it out.

I agree with the author that it can be hard to take traditional quilt patterns and make them look new and fresh. This author does a great job at giving the reader ideas on what can be done. Sure, instructions for each quilt they made are given, but it‘s how they are talked about. Each pattern has info about how it would be traditionally done, then ideas on who to remix it, and then the authors pattern for the remix.

DGRachel I need another quilt book like I need a hole in the head, but this one may have to make its way into my sewing room... 4y
LibrarianRyan @DGRachel it‘s not out yet but I suggest checking out from a library first. Nothing to do with the book but it‘s how I don‘t acquire so many quilting books. 😁 4y
