Just why, exactly, is health care so expensive? Todd Rice, a practicing physician, shares his frustrations and insights about the third party payor system and government interventions that have distorted the natural economic incentives to control costs and quality. He offers free market solutions, as opposed to the ever-increasing government intrusions and mandates that are so popular today. This essay is an easy read and full of basic, common sense principles that encourage individuals to take charge of their own health, their health care dollars and the relationship that they have (or could have) with their physicians.
