I‘m not so excited about this story. It is supposed to be about a bold Polish queen, right? But she‘s spoiled, doesn‘t really have agency and most of this novel is about the men around her who are all participating in off-page battles- all historical events. It‘s boring.

I‘m disappointed. Historical fiction is awesome but this one wasn‘t for me. Going to my classroom library.

Fantastic book! It took me forever to read. Not the book's fault. I've been in a slump since July and I probably shouldn't have picked a 500 page historic fiction book to try to get out of it. 😂 Really enjoyed learning about this queen who most have never heard about, as well as the different cultures. Looking forward to the next book once it's translated.

Next book and the first of my four library books for Women in Translation month. Looking forward to this book about a Polish princess who became Queen of Sweden and Denmark and was written about in the Norse Sagas.

Library book haul! August is women in translation month, so I have four library books and one more book on Kindle for that. Ancestor Approved is to continue my reading of books by Indigenous authors. Looking forward to all of these!

I've been far more interested in trying out translated titles since A Hero Born was great so this one is next. I was lucky enough to get a complimentary audiobook copy from Libro as a Librarian

I loved this intriguing historical fic. Polish history is completely new to me, the characters were good, and the pace was perfect. I hope the publisher releases the English translation of the second book, too!
