Why did this hit me in the feels?! It was sweet. I loved how the relationships were built over time and that not everything is easy or clean. Really solid read.

ermagawd this was adorable and cute. I love Loki! I feel like Mackenzi did a really good job of not making Loki just evil or just good. He really does bounce back and fourth while also being a perfect example of the debate of nurture vs. nature. I loved the conflict and who the killer ends up being. Loki is a treasure when evaluating our world and gender norms.

There's a lot about this book that I liked but it was absolutely not the narration of the audiobook. I made a conscious effort to disassociate the narrator from the content. I liked how dark this book was and it def didn't shy away from the murdery stuff. I liked the characters and politics and conflicts and trying to steal the throne games. I'll definitely pick up the sequel.

SassenachTheBookWizard also I went in aware that people were claiming this was racist towards African Americans. I was watching for that and I just don't see it. I am not a person of colour but I feel like I'm self aware and comprehend microaggressions. I'm thinking that the YA Twitter community has started confusing the existence of slavery in a book as racism and holding a North American-centric POV of everything...which is rather concerning and why I avoid YA Twitter 4d

This book should have been left with the title The Red Bridge Wars. It made sense. It was tied into the book and setting. The cover looks cheap and flat. They should've incorporated a stat with a tattoo or something.

I liked the end of this but the whole thing was destroyed by the awful and unnecessary romances. Everything was rushed through and I wasn't given enough time to get attached to anyone.

So...I've finally figured out how to explain this book...it's the Montague and Capulet's meet Sherlock Holmes in modern times.

I love that we have art fraud. I don't know why but I have always found the entire industry to be fascinating. I am at an absolute loss when it comes to Charlotte and Jamie...and Jamie's dad too honestly. They're all just such hot messes. I can't figure out what to do with them in my brain.

BookDragonNotWorm After reading the book description, I think they should pay you for yours! 2w
Scochrane26 This one is my least favorite of the four. I thought Jamie was too teen angsty. I really liked the next two. 2w

I honestly love how this whole world ALWAYS seems to focus on the relationship of children with their parents and family as a whole. I really loved getting a new political structure and conflict while seeing a new type or structure of the spirits. This world just continued to get fleshed out and developed and BETTER with each book.

Yeah this series just improves with each book. I just LOVE that each book switches the main POV to a new Queen while also connecting and including the other queens. The whole relationship with the spirits is still just a little too confusing for me to fully comprehend but I loved them as a conflict! This series strength is definitely the cast (main and supporting).

booksandsympathy I love your purple hair. 💜 All these books sound so good! I agree that we need more books from WWII set in countries like Holland. Did you know they lost the greatest population of Jews? It's thought the Germans came down on the Dutch Jews so much harder because the Dutch government rebelled when the Germans took over. 3w

Okay so I was expecting the submarine race to be a lot more of this book but it's done like in the first 1/3. I didn't realize how much government conspiracy was going to be in this. Lots of elements that I enjoy. The mc was really likable and strong and not a stupid damsel. I loved that the conflict with the world pulls in some things from climate change, the discussion about mental health and that its own voices.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this! I honestly haven't read many books set during World War II outside of Germany, Russia, France and the United States so this was a nice fresh perspective. I loved the mystery of this with the missing girl and I have to commend the author for not taking the easy way out in this ending. I loved the main character and her interactions with the resistance.

Marissa is one of those few authors that manages to write such good conclusions. Considering there's career NYT bestselling authors who still can't do that, it's so satisfying. I loved the stand off with Ace, I loved getting to see the jail, I loved how everyone's hidden persona was revealed and I loved the conclusion with Max and powers. The epilogue freaking HURT though if they don't do a spin off series or novella or something! Pleaseeeeeeeee!

There were parts of this book that I loved. The first 1/3 or so was especially good but then there was just a lot of time where my interest waned and I felt myself rather bored. It would pick up a gain for a bit and then go stagnate again. The pacing is just so inconsistent. I liked most of the characters and events and conflicts but the pacing is just such a struggle.

I just loved this concept. Your head lady at your finishing school drops dead over dinner and you don't want to be slip up from the girls at your Finishing School because you love them so you cover up the murder while also investigating it and suddenly you have visitors at your place every hour and then someone dresses up as dead head lady. There wasn't really any huge laugh out loud moments but the overall tone and the characters were just so fun
