Prodigy is, at its essence, adaptability and persistent, positive obsession. #FirstLineFridays

Due to a StoryGraph challenge I finally got to read a book by this great writer. Had no idea what to expect going in, just what a friend told me: it is dark. Dark? Extremely dark! It's the darkest dystopian book I've ever read: kept hoping things are getting better, but did they ever? What made the book bearable were the Earthseed verses at the start of each chapter, bringing some hope.

Definitely a pick!

A visually stunning graphic novel about love, family, and witchcraft, a delightful story that celebrates diversity and inclusion. Nova is a deaf witch who uses hearing aids and non-verbal spells, and Tam is a bisexual werewolf. The two girls fall in love as they work together to save their town, and their relationship is one of the highlights of the story. And more, Nova has two grandmas in a relationship with each other, too.

Loved it!

I'll be traveling quite a bit next month so in addition to some books I really want to get to, I added a lot of random reads to the list, since I may pick up books here and there on my trips.

September was pretty good for my reading, got 2 #BookSpinBingo and read both spins and a few #Roll100 picks:
- The Mystery of Grace by Charles de Lint: Sept and August #Roll100;
- Me, Antman and Fleabag (tagged): June #Roll100 and Sept #BookSpin;

Update: I didn't read a lot but was able to get a #BookSpinBingo (see above) which included both March #BookSpin (Castle In the Air) and #DoubleSpin (Never Let Me Go), both very good reads.

Made some progress in #BookChain with Castle In the Air and Caprice of Fate (audiobook), I am now stuck on the 10th prompt.

@AllDebooks Thanks for making me read an interesting book. Finally got to finish my first #Naturalitsy read, I really enjoyed it, learned a lot not only about eels but also marine research, Rachel Carson, Swedish society and more. Very interesting idea to alternate chapters about eels with writer's personal life. A pick!

- A Comedian Walks Into A Funeral Home done: my February #DoubleSpin.

These 2 reads helped me get a #BookSpinBingo for this month, I think it is the earliest I was able to do this.

Confusing and hard to follow in some parts but still a great read. I have to admit, I started it once and it didn't really draw me in but gave it one more chance and ended up liking it a lot. A pick!

Just finished it and I enjoyed it a lot: a very cool view into the mind of a great writer about writing novels, publishing, readers, literary awards, and more. A pick.

This read also helped me get a #BookSpinBingo for this month.

@TheAromaOfBooks I was trying hard to find a book with a title starting with N for my #BookChain challenge, only when I finished it I realized this was it 😃

Last couple weeks I finished both spins and a roll100 pick:
- Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson (#Roll100 pick#2): a great start of a new series for me;
- The Last Conversation by Paul Tremblay (Jan #BookSpin): another good entry in the Forward series;
- Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh (Jan #DoubleSpin): so-so pick: good writing but with a lot of scenes not quite necessary in the context of the book, IMO.
