Really enjoyed the audiobook. The voice actor does some pretty wild accents.

I have long since run out of superlatives for Gene Wolfe, but this is a wonderful novel. Wolfe weaves together elements of detective fiction, spy thriller, Greco-Roman mythology, Catholicism, and, of course, sci-fi. Each volume of the novel gets more dizzingly complex, drawing you into deeper and deeper mysteries.
Wolfe shifts genres like a racer shifting gears
This book starts slow but accelerates furiously once you get going. As per usual, Wolfe fills every page with hints, foreshadowing, and puzzles for the reader.
What if a priest had to become a detective, thief, and politician to save his mission?
"It was all perfectly reasonable and nicely reasoned; but as he surveyed it, he felt a surge of self-contempt"
Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun is one of my favorite novels, so now I'm starting his Book of the Long Sun.
