Good Calories, Bad Calories
Good Calories, Bad Calories | Gary Taubes
3 posts | 8 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet despite this advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number. In this groundbreaking book, award-winning science writer Gary Taubes shows us that almost everything we believe about the nature of a healthy diet is wrong. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Speed listened to this book before my loan expires in the morning. Kind of dry listening and I know I zoned out for some of the research. The book was well/researched and eye opening. Now back to my regular selections of mysteries.

I thought this post would be appropriate as I am sitting at my desk eating a cookie for breakfast. Sweets are not my vice but it's the holidays, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️🎄❄️☃️

Cathythoughts Absolutely, we have to have something sweet at the Holliday‘s. I‘m working my way through a second box of chocolates. So nice with tea or coffee 🙃 6y
