3-8-22: My 23rd finished book of 2022! Written in the form of a true crime podcast, this is the story of Cleo Ray, a fitness influencer on Instagram/Twitter/YouTube. Cleo is accused of drowning her lover, Beck Alden. What follows is the account of the death, the police, attorneys and jurors perspectives, and the outcome of the trial. It was an interesting story but annoying to read in podcast form. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

A full-cast, podcast-style performance that was so compellingly performed that I found myself listening to it in its entirety in one sitting. It was that good. And while I didn‘t really buy into the accused's “motive” for murder, I still found myself riveted by this story…I mean it was just so much fun to listen to. Also, the circumstances that play out at the very end completely took me by surprise.

I understand the audiobook has a full cast so that may be a better way to consume this book. I read it and at first was charmed by the Dateline/pod cast aspect but over time it became tedious. Cleo is a difficult MC. She's hard to root for because we never REALLY know what the truth is but she's also pretty likeable, most of the time. I didn't like the end at all. I'm glad to have this off my TBR but it fell flat for me.

Listened to my first #NetGalley book today. This story is laid out in documentary/serial podcast format which I really enjoyed. The audiobook version has multiple narrators which made the story easier to follow rather than one or two narrators trying to simulate several characters. Overall, I thought this was a great mystery with a plot twist at the end which literally made me gasp. 5/5 read for me! #ARC #ARCaudiobook
