George M. Johnson, activist and bestselling author of All Boys Aren't Blue, returns with a striking memoir that celebrates Black boyhood and brotherhood in all its glory. This is the vibrant story of George, Garrett, Rall, and Rasulfour children raised by Nanny, their fiercely devoted grandmother. The boys hold one another close through early brushes with racism, memorable experiences at the family barbershop, and first loves and losses. And with Nanny at their center, they are never broken. George M. Johnson capture the unique experience of growing up as a Black boy in America, and their rich family storiesexploring themes of vulnerability, sacrifice, and cultureare interspersed with touching letters from the grandchildren to their beloved matriarch. By turns heartwarming and heartbreaking, this personal account is destined to become a modern classic of emerging adulthood.

I love this book! Love the celebration of the matriarch and the love of brothers/cousins 💗 being raised by a strong mother and being blessed with strong women in our family, I am inspired to be just like Nanny ~ thank you to the author for sharing stories of his grandmother and his childhood 👏👏👏

I loved All Boys Aren‘t Blue not only for George‘s story but for his family, in particular his Nana. Nana is centered in the stories here, with this book serving as a bit of a love letter to her. It‘s lovely, funny, and sweet. She is truly a case study in respecting your family members for who they are and protecting them no matter what.

TheKidUpstairs I loved Nana. Such an inspiration to lead, always, with love. 2y
